As a newbie in this "video grabing" filed I have a solution to my bosses request that he had put in front of me.
I was hoping for a conformation of my good plan, and/or suggestion how to improve it.

It was said that I had to figure out how to, for 7 days, grab 4 national TV channels broadcasts aired between 19-23h. It's for some kind of analysis. So I need 4 streams simultaneously written into 4 video files (*.ts if I understood correctly) for 4hours.

After googleing and stuff, I figured that my best bet is to buy TBS 6205 quad DVB-T tuner video card, hook it up in my i7 Windows7 PC, with 560ti GPU, run MediaPortal and just, you know, press record.

I was wondering is that a good, viable plan?

Thank you for all the help I can get.

You won't necessarily need 4 tuners, if you record all 4 channels off of the same mux.
MediaPortal TV Server can record all of the channels off of the same mux at the same time, using just one tuner.
So you should achieve your goal using just one tuner.

    Thank you Lisag.
So there is no need for met to buy TBS 6205? Could you please recomend me an alternative card then. Program that are in question have these parametars:

    HTV 1 Live
    MUX A
    , pos. 1
    MPEG-2
    Modulation 64-QAM; Code rate 3/4; GI 1/4

    HTV 2 MUX A, pos. 2
    MPEG-2
    Modulation 64-QAM; Code rate 3/4; GI 1/4

    RTL
    MUX A, pos. 3
    MPEG-2
    Modulation 64-QAM; Code rate 3/4; GI 1/4

    NOVA TV
    MUX A
    , pos. 4
    MPEG-2
    Modulation 64-QAM; Code rate 3/4; GI 1/4

    Fala!

    Hi,

I am not totally sure, as I am in the UK and only have experience of terrestial UK TV.

Looking at the info you have provided though, my best guess is that they are all DVB-T (non HD) channels being broadcast from the same Mux (A), so any DVB tuner should be able to record them all at the same time using MediaPortal TV Server.

I am not an expert though, but that is my best guess.

Good news is that a single DVB-T tuner (non HD) are very inexpensive, so you should be able to try it out without incurring too much expense!
