Hi Everyone...

I have spent days.... trying to sort this out and am at wits end with it!

I have been using 1.1.x for as long as I can remember and it has been running without a hitch! I set my computer to hibernate after 30mins of inactivity and it has been working for at least the last couple of years. Then I upgraded to 1.2.1 and at first things were working fine. Somehow I think my Moving Pictures got corrupted and started crashing MP. So I thought ok good time to do a huge clean up... what a mistake!

I decided to add a second drive and run it in Raid to speed things up a bit especially while recording and watching live TV. So after the first complete re-install and setting EVERYTHING back up i found when it went to hibernate it would just boot up again but on boot up it would stall. Hard reset was the only way to get it up again. OK so after a few hours playing around with APM and ACPI and network settings nothing helped so thought ok start again! anyway after 4 re-builds (others got corrupted for some reason) and 2 whole days later i'm back at the beginning!!!

So this time around I took it real slow... after every driver install I would hibernate and make sure! So after re-booting and hibernating after every frickn driver things were working ok. Then I installed MP 1.2.1 and did a Channel Scan and tested channels. I made sure i left everything on default other than the TV service. Closed up MP and went to hibernate. OK worked was looking good.

Re-booted and tried it again all good. Ok for next test would be to leave MP running in window mode and tried hibernate... BAM!!! rebooted!!!! nearly cried... and now hibernate just won't work!!! Killing me!!! and because it reboots immediately it corrupted the driver the cd-rom and the tv tuner!!! anyway got that sorted ok now but it just will not hibernate!!!

If i hibernate windows with no MP running just reboots! If i turn off windows hibernate and use the plugin to go to hibernate the screen goes blank and computer runs but not responsive. have to hard switch off!!!

I have looked at the logs but there's not much in it. anyway its killing me so any help would be be greatly appreciated!!

Firstly I would not raid the hdd's, just have logical drive for storage, secondly confused by your MX 5200, do you mean FX5200 which to my knowledge did not support HDMI connections, just the error log shows D3D dvevice lost.

We need logs produced by running MP in debug mode, so we get system files as well.

Thanks for replying.

The Raid setup is just for time shifting and for my recorded tv shows which i delete after i watch them. I have 2 x 1TB hard disks which are not raided which i use for storage of my movies and tv show which i keep.

Yeah sorry my mistake about the video card it is indeed a FX5200 but it is definitely running HDMI into the monitor.

I was wondering why the logs were so light on I will use the debug mode and post the logs up again.

Ok i've attached the debug logs here now.

Although I've looked through them and there's nothing out of the ordinary which leaves me to think its a windows issue.

So you have disabled windows own power settings and are just using the powerscheduler tv AND client plugins to control MP, what happens if you use standby instead, any joy then.

Sorry nothing jumping out of logs that I can recognise to give a solution.

yeah i made sure all windows power settings were off and used both server and client settings and made them the same. when i try standby the screen goes blank but everything else stays on and it hangs.

I don't think it's mediaportal that's causing it, probably why there's nothing in the logs about it because it actually completes the hibernate properly just so happens to reboot immediately after it.

did more testing and its definitely a windows thing. probably driver issue. as i mentioned i have the main os and recordings on a raid stripe set. this time i didn't install the extra 2 storage drives and hibernate worked fine. when i installed the extra 2 storage drives and it installed the intel 82801eb drivers it started to happen again. so i thought ok maybe a power issue so i unplugged them but didn't fix it. Tried to uninstall the intel drivers but now its stuck restarting now no matter what i do....

I don't understand the only difference in this setting compared to my old one is the os drive running raid. everything else is exactly the same that's why its so frustrating...

Sadly this just could be a case of uninstalling things one at a time, I would start with software, then look at hardware, until the problem goes and you find the culprit, not fun in my experience, but necessary.

ok so after hours of stuffing around it turns out that its the usb ir receiver for the mce remote! i didn't think to remove it since its i've been running the exact setup for over 12 months and have never had to remove it for hibernate to work! now if i want hibernate to work i have to remove the receiver?

I've switched off everything in bios other than usb!

any suggestions?
