I've posted this question in post https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/you_can_use_mediakeys_your_keyboard-t2281.html?t=2281&highlight=HID+devices

but I thing i'll find answer here, so i write my post again.
Is there any possibility to add additional keys to work with mediaportal ? I use remote which is recognized as HID devices and lot of keys ( play, stop, etc. ) works fine , but my remote has additional keys , as 'more' or 'dvd menu' which aren't recognized. I couldn't find any information how force MP to use all of remote's keys, so if Anybody know anything, i'd be thankful.

I am looking for a similar problem. Can you assign keystrokes to your remote buttons (it's own software)? if so you my be able to use the media portal setup general-->keys and sounds area.

another idea would be to use a keyboard remapping tool to remap the extra keys to the keys available in the general HID area, that probably only works for actual keyboards but it might be worth a try.

I want to know how to set a key to go to the my TV or TV guide screen for example or to set key combinations to a function.

I have used ketweek http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/ there is also one in the windows (XP I think) resource kit (called remapkey.exe).
if your interested the key map is stored at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard

my problem is different, I can get the keystrokes to be standard or basic multimedia keys I want, but is there any way to go to the 'my TV" section with a single key stroke from the keyboard? I don't know of any way for some actions like that, I can do standard movement/selection/volume etc just not the quick mode selection. My remote does not seem to be HID but the software allows me to assign keys to the remote buttons.

I've tried ketweek but it haven't helped. Then I've focus on your first tip. I've found my remote's own software and assigned remote's keys to keyboard's keys basis on KeyboardShortcuts. Thank You very much mrkaras. Regards.
