High Definition bandwidth requirements (1 Viewer)

I've got a box with a Technisat SkyStar HD card in. I'm just starting to put the software on.

Can anyone tell me what sort of bandwidth a 1080p stream uses over the network? Will I be needing Gigabit ethernet or will a wireless link do? Noticed D-Link are doing some ethernet over mains products, be nice if I could do it with those.

Slightly diferent point but; anyone know what speed HDMI is? I've seen devices to transmit 1080p HDMI over Cat5 and that needs two cables.

Current HDTV-channels require a bandwith of ~ 20MBit/s.
Gigabit-Ethernet (1000 MBit/s) is more than enough to handle this bandwith. W-Lans, that depend on the standard 802.11g are able to transmit ~ 35MBit/s, if the signal strength is sufficient. With the upcoming 802.11n, 80MBit/s+ are possible.
