Ongoing High End HTPC MP based (1 Viewer)

I'm building with care actually this time. From what i read in all the forums etc. I really plan to make MP the standard for my HTPC's. I have made a lot of people very excited for a system like this and plan to build a lot more of these. If everything fails I will try to assemble a plugin/driver to make the 2 screens function. However lets not get ahead of myself. when the hardware is running, I plan to speed the q6600 up to 3Ghz. When a stable solution is found, I will connect everything and take it from there. I expect to run into some DTS connect alc889a problems and I expect some problems in the pixelmapping area. Further I hope that next year the first HDMI 1.3 audiocards will come into play. Then a Onkyo reciever will enable True HD audio and finally the HTPC will be a real option for audiophyles as well. This might very well be the final push HTPC will need. Then off course the skins of MP (I sincerely hope XFACE) must be upgraded to 1080p and I will be a happy camper!

Alright then!

just installed MP with XFACE skin. Looks very very nice. Ran in some trouble with copying the skin, after the vista hotfix for this know issue it worked like clockwork! Now in the process of discovering settings. Lets see what we need on codecs etc. Tommorow I'll hook it up to the full HD and surround reciever! does anyone have any suggestions on codecs?

does anyone know wether i need to install directx 9?

mediaportal is the best mediacenter software without a doubt!!! I ran into a few bugs concerning the xface skin at 1920*1080p, witch i will post on the apropriate thread. I chose now for connecting with VGA because of the 1:1 pixelmapping on the Samsung Le40f71B, however I did order a firmware update to provide 1:1 pixelmapping over HDMI because I want to upgrade to a BlueRay drive and have the ability of HDCP, which can only be done digitally. The ALC889a HD chip on the P35-DS4 works brilliantly. Off course I am still waiting on a HDMI 1.3 audiocard, which I can merge with the HDMI video later on. honestly I don't know wether I will be able to get better sound with my current audio setup (which ain't cheapo but is no high end either).
The biggest thing I will have to adress is the fact that Nvidia isn't able to clone the image with different resolutions on the 7 inch lcd. So I have to manually drag it dual view onto the little screen. Since this is not Wife-Proof this is a problem!!! Does anyone have a solution for this??? I want MP to startup at both screens!! bit lousy that a 350euro videocard doesn't enable me to do so! Perhaps anyone knows a thirdparty software app or a thirdparty driver??? thanx in advance!

Except for the clone/Wife-Proof problem, how does your betterhalf like the HTPC?

I always like to see reactions to my HTPC and MP from friends that do not know anything about computers, they useally point to my HTPC (Silverstone LC11) and ask "is that really a PC???" very funny...
And by the time I show them my TVSeries and My music with scrobbler, they are blown away.

the wife likes it very much. because MP looks good and is easy to operate. I indeed also had some neighboors looking at it and asking if it was a real computer. I haven't had time to fool around much with plugins. What exactly does scrobbler do? and do you know how to install uitzending gemist in XFACE? alvast bedankt als je me opweg kan helpen hiermee

Uitzending Gemist werkt goed maar nog niet in Xface, hierover moet ik Harley maar even een verzoek toesturen...

Xface skin works very well, i have one problem, which is that in the left upper corner a little screen from cover art is trying to get through, resulting in a vaque flikkering square. In the main page, or when the left taskbar is unfolded it does not produce this problem. Just installed MCE keyboard and phillips mce remote, which worked immediatly in MP. Now busy with losing vista MCE from some hardbuttons on the keyboard and remote. So far i'm loving MP just figuring out the ins and outs. Anyone have the same little flickering square ?????

I had the same problem, I disabled visualizations and it went away.

Help! I'm using mce keyboard and remote in vista 32 home premium, does anyone know how to reprogramm the remote/keyboard hotkeys to MP without it starting up VMC everytime I touch one of the buttons? I tried intellitype, which did not do me any good. I looked at girder or hip, however replacing the driver for the remote leaves me with a disfunctional keyboard. can someone explaine how this works with the mapping option in mediaportal? Or do I have to dig in the registry of vista? Request Help please

Maybe have a look at EventGhost, which I am using with success, and I know Patricon was using to achieve functionality of the media buttons on a keyboard (I only use it for remote). A search on the forums for Eventghost might be instructive. Also I am pretty assure that the IR Server Suite software might help with button mapping, but I am not sure there. And-81 would be your best help there.

Maybe have a look at Multires - A google search could be instructive. I use it to allow differing resolutions on my PC monitor and TV in Dualview Mode.
