Hi! I need some input to my winter HTPC project that will start in january. Actually my third project for MP. Can anybody comment on this hardware setup: - Antec P182 (Black=no irritating reflexes, will host all my hdd's and act as a server for other computers, tower model=easy to reach the optical drive, good cooling with an option to replace the fans with more quiet ones) - Corsair HX620 (silent, good for multiple hdd's and a high end CPU and GPU) - Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 (cool components, built for amateur overclock, PCIe 2.0=better power management in idle=cooler GPU) - Intel Q9450 2,66GHz (95W=silent air cooling possible, four cores needed for ORB, MP, IE etc), I intend to overclock to 3GHz(or more) for gaming purposes and best value for the money) - Tuniq tower 120 (very silent with air pushed out through the top back mount fan in the chassis=push and pull flow) - Corsair XMS2 PC8500 (matches the bus speed for the motherboard, right?) - Powercolor HD 3870 passive (good for occasional gaming, silent GPU cooling, better contrast and colors than nvidia cards according to internet reviews, hdmi/HDCP/audio chip on board, P182 has an option to add a GPU cooling fan if needed ) - One silent hdd (500GB) for TV-recordings and applications=two partitions, one hdd (500 GB) or more for music, pictures, documents and movies) - Hauppauge PVR USB 2 MCE (only thing I already own-works great) - Hauppauge 500 MCE (allows me to record three analogue channels in total=no problem having multiple MP clients in other rooms with streaming TV-hope the new TV filter works OK) - FloppyDTV with a pay card for viewing TV channels on a 42PV60E (actually a dual tuner/single pay card tuner is preferred, but does any exist with good quality? For COMHEM in Sweden.) - BD/HD DVD optical reader/burner - Microsoft Remote keyboard and remote control (remote for my wife, keyboard for administration purposes for me) - A small screen as second monitor in the couch to view internet =TV listings-current implementation does not give a good overview. Today I run a laptop for this purpose. Even good for browsing the net during commercials. Software part: - XP professional eng SP3 (stable OS, not resource hungry as Vista, best for MP) - ORB 2 for WEB programming of TV recordings and placeshifting of my pictures, music, TV and movies to the rest of the world (running that right now-recommended! Until MP will support the same features) - MP 1.0 and TVE 1.0 with multiple clients in my home (I hope that v 1.0 will be ready this spring :) ) - Some nice games I also hope that IPTV will be possible with MP. With all the above in place I will be happy for the next coming five years or so. Until MPII is mature. :) What would you guys suggest to improve this setup?
