HIP - directional keys not responding! (1 Viewer)

I use HIP and mediaportal with the MCE remote control (I've installed the messageplugin).

All of the remote key presses are recognised within MP (e.g. my tv, tv guide, play, pause) EXCEPT up, down, left, right and ok..

Those keys are mapped but do not respond when pressed. So annoying!

Is this a common problem?

Thanks.

Are there mappings in HIP and in the Message plugin for the arrow keys?

are you using the default or replacement driver?

have you tried MCE replacement plugin or IR Server Suite?

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

All of the arrow buttons on the remote are mapped in HIP (using the codes below).

I'm using the "MCE Infrared remote control driver". I get the double key press problem with the other one (ehomes).

I'm using MCE replacement plugin too.

It's really strange, because the arrow (and ok) buttons used to work but stopped working since I upgraded to the latest tvserver SVN and had to start again. The buttons work with other applications.

So you're using the replacement driver.

Unless you specifically have button mappings set up the defaults will not.

Also, you shouldn't be using the HIP and the MCE Replacement Plugin at the same time. They both try to access the MCE device and can interfere with each other.

How much use are you getting out of HIP? Or is it just there for this one purpose?

You haven't tried IR Server Suite then?

    Thanks again for the reply.

I think I just cracked it. I went into the MCE replacement plugin configuration via media portal setup and noticed that mappings for all of the "replacement driver buttons" (which include all of the arrow keys and ok) had been removed, so I manually entered a key press for "move up" and then the up button worked within MP. I think that's what you were saying.

So I shouldn't be using HIP and the replacement plugin? I thought HIP wouldn't work with MP without it?

I fing HIP really useful; I use it to launch MP (TV server is always there in the background), itunes, bittornado, google etc.. And it normally works ok with mediaportal.

ok, so you're using the message mode in MCE Replacement plugin ... I see now ...

It sounds like you didn't have the arrow keys mapped. If you reset to the default button mappings it should come back.

    Cheers,
