How can I add external TV recordings and other misc videos (1 Viewer)

How can I add external TV recordings and other misc videos. The two choices I know to be available are not suitable?

My Videos - Really should be called My Movies(which it is in the config), is a nightmare for anything but movies. Trying to use shares view over multiple shares is ridiculously complex and unusable as a HTPC setup.

My TV Series - A great plugin for TV series edited and properly names by season/episode, but again it is useless for access to other videos.

I have asked this question several times, and many others many more times, in the forum here and no one gets a real answer. Is it just not possible at the moment to get this most basic feature happening?

Possibilities I have thought of are to lauch a cut down version of the old myHtpc from within Mediaportal using MyPrograms, or a hack around way of using MyTVSeries by creating various "Series" called "TV recordings", "Documentary", "Family Video" etc.

Ideas??

i'd love to know how to do this as well.

i have recorded tv from other sources that isn't organised. i'd like to be able to add these somewhere so I can access them the same way I access my videos but i'd like them to be kept seperately.

just in to a simple media library where I could play the files from.

Any ideas??
