    Hi!

Pressing the On/Off button on my Microsoft MCE remote makes windows to shut down or enter sleep mode.
I'm not the green type of guy regarding my media computer. I want it to stay on - ALWAYS ON!!
Instead I want to use the On/Off button to switch my TV On/Off.
How can I prevent windows from shutting down?

    Regards,

The obvious answer is don't press the PC button!

The other answer is to go to the power settings on your PC (in Control Panel) and change the "when I press the power button on my PC" Setting.

    Hi!

    Thanks for your reply.
The problem is not the PC button. Its the On/Off button at my remote control (M$ remote).
Of course I can just ignore the button but my childeren and some guests doesn't.
Changing the settings under power options doesn't change the computer behaivour when pressing
the On/Off button on my remote... :(

    Regards,

i'm assuming, since you're posting in this forum, that you have either the IR server suite or the MCE replacement installed

firstly, go into your remote config and remap the "PC power" button to "switch off TV" instead of "enter standby". where you have to do this depends on how you have your remote set up (in plugins, either the MCE replacement plugin or the MP control for IR server plugin)

you'll probably also want to go into the translator and set something up in there to make it system-wide (IR server only)

remember that if you still have the MCE services running, then these will often take precedence and will send the system to standby - best solultion IMO is to run IR server, disable MCE services, and map the buttons however you want
