How do I run from the keyboard? (1 Viewer)

I am definitely a beginner with Media Portal.
I am slowly building up my system, testing each step before investing in more
hardware.

I finally got the TV Guide working, and can click on a current show and watch it.

But I can't figure out how to schedule a show on the TV Guide for future recording.

I only have a standard computer setup, a keyboard and a mouse... no remote.

From the TV guide, I can move to a future program with either the mouse or
the keyboard arrow keys. I chose a future Storm Rider episode on the Weather
Channel. I get an upcoming episodes screen, with 5 episodes showing.

"Record" is highlighted in green, and I press enter on the keyboard and "Record"
changes to "Don't Record" in green. But the label above the episode list still
says "active: 0", whatever that means.

I press escape twice to leave that screen and the TV Guide screen, move down
to select "Scheduled"... and nothing is listed.

What am I doing wrong... or what should I be doing?

Hi and welcome Mark

Are you using the latest version of MP? If so, scheduled recordings should be highlighted in the guide in red once they are set up. Something like -->this<-- (note: that is our old skin so things look slightly different now). Is that what you see, or not?

Well, I've made some progress. Apparently I should slap my hand every time I reach for the mouse. It seems to screw things up. If I just concentrate on the arrow keys on the keyboard and the enter and escape keys, things seem to work better.

I am using the latest full release version, as of about 3 weeks ago.
Yes, now that I've gotten some shows into the record status, they do show up in red.

Now to wait an hour and see if the first one actually records.

Slow going getting this to operate. Hope it will be worth it.
Right now, it is nowhere close to as usable as my two ReplayTV recorders, probably 5-8 years old.

Stick to keyboard, mouse is a nightmare with MP, of course remote better

I use a mouse and keyboard and don't have a problem with either...
