I hope this is the right spot for this question... I am new afterall lol...

I am moving to a location that has very limited space, with a family of 4. We have huge CRT TV's and 2 big screens. My idea is to just put all those in Storage and use computers to watch TV at our next destination. It is for 3 years so my CRT's will still be there when I get back if I don't throw them away at that time lol.

Anyway, is it possible to setup a server computer with a dual tuner and span that out to 5 or 6 rooms? I realize with a dual tuner they would only be able to watch 2 different channels, but how well would it stream if 4 people were actually watching TV in different rooms?

Also is something like this used for that?

SiliconDust HDHomeRun Network-based Dual Digital HDTV Tuner Ethernet Interface

The deal is I have about 5 LCD's 15-22"'s in various size, so everyone would still be able to watch TV ok, but just on a smaller scale, but at better resolutions. I might just have to get one decent sized LCD TV for the family room, which is fine. Thanks for any help!

in theory u can stream to as many clients as the network can handle.

also remember that although u have dual tuner, u will be able to watch more than 2 channels. u will be able to watch all channels inside 2 different mux.

    mux 1
    channel 1
    channel 2
    etc.

    mux 2
    channel 1
    channel 2
    etc.

Thanks for the reply! I don't know what a mux is, but that is great news about multiple channels. Do you happen to know what the difference is in that SiliconDust lan item vs like an internal card with dual tuners? The network function on it confuses me. lol...
