I seem to have some trouble understanding how MP should be setup to work when I switch my TV and PC off and the PC goes into sleep mode.

e.g. Last night I was watching TV and wanted to go to bed and record the remainder of the program so i started the recording and turn my TV and PC off (the PC going into sleep mode). No recording took place.

This morning I started a current program through the scheduler and put my PC to sleep.
The recording worked for the few seconds before I put the PC to sleep and started again when i woke it up as the program was still running.

However, when i schedule a recording at some future time and i put it to sleep the recording works.

I'm also experiencing other issues which I have posted on another thread where when I am watching TV and turn my TV and PC off (sleep mode) and i then wake them up MP does not return back to the TV channel i was watching. Even though i have followed these instructions

http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...22_TV/1_TV_Client#When_entering_the_TV_screen

Has anyone else been able to configure their MP so that it does keep recording the current show and does return to the channel you were watching when you wake the PC ?

    Hello again

One key (which I hope should be obvious): TV Server can't record while the PC is asleep (standby/hibernate). The hardware is mostly powered down; software is not running; nothing is happening while the PC is asleep.

So, how do you minimise power usage?
In short, the answer is TV Server's PowerScheduler plugin.
This plugin - which most people use for power management - can schedule the PC to wake in order to [for example] perform a scheduled recording. It can also prevent the PC from going to sleep when a schedule is being recorded... and then put the PC to sleep after the scheduled recording finishes. In short, the PS plugin is the key. This is why I warned you in the other thread when you told me you'd disabled the PS plugin.

I'd strongly recommend that you read the documentation in the wiki. In my opinion it's really helpful (...and when I say "really", I mean it).

If you still don't understand (or have problems) after reading and fixing your configuration, please post log files.

Has anyone else been able to configure their MP so that it does keep recording the current show
It is impossible to put the PC to sleep (standby/hibernate) and have a recording complete. They're mutually exclusive.

and does return to the channel you were watching when you wake the PC ?
I'd appreciate if we could keep the discussion about this subject in the other thread. It makes it much easier for me (and other people) to follow the conversation. On that note, I'm waiting for your log files in the other thread.

    Regards,
    mm
