I'm having some troubles with MP2: all my movies are stored on HTPC and I'm testing on the PC. So i'm accessing my movie collection via windows shares. But i can't find a way to add network share to MP2. Network drives are not shown and i can't find any options that would take me to network browser.

Any ideas?

AW: How to access movies in network shares

You can either assign a drive letter to your shares or - that would be the correct way in MP2 - start the MP2 server at your HTPC. Then you can share your media resources via a server share.

I want my HTPC isolated from MP2 until it's ready for daily use (with TV movies and other stuff).

How do you mean assign drive letter? I have network drives, but they are not showing up in MP menu.

Are you talking about the shares configuration, when you go to Settings -> Shares -> Shares Configuration -> Add -> Local filesystem mediaprovider?
As far as I remember, my network drives showed up here... I'll test it when my HTPC is online again.

My network shares don't show up there... I've specifically added a network location and that also doesn't appear to show up. All I see is local drives.

Would it possible to add the ability to specify a network path manually? something like \\myfileserver\movies using an on-screen keyboard.

So if I understand correctly, you both matejdro and jaminben have a network drive (ie a letter Z: connected to a share like \\myremotehost\myshare\myfolder), that you can browse without problem with explorer, but you can't see this letter when you go into "Settings -> Shares -> Shares Configuration -> Add -> "Local share" or "Global share" -> Local filesystem mediaprovider" and click next ? (you have to choose local or global share before access to "local file system mediaprovider")

That's pretty strange. Here I have no problem like this, even with a read only share... I can see my Z: drive connected to my remote computer and play the items. (ok my remote computer is a virtual one, but it should not change anything...)

Remote drives are not excluded from the list, so if you can access the drive with explorer, there should be no reason the drive doesn't show up into MP2. It even works here if the drive is connected after the client or the server was started.

Can you confirm that I understood correctly, that you both use the last commit on the master branch, and tell us if there is some error in the log ?

    Cheers.

    Smeulf.
