Hi! I need to re install windows, mp, etc.. and i need to backup my database.

Can you tell me how to backup and restore my video database? I'm using win xp

Another questions.... is it possible to start mp directly in my videos folder?

I can watch folder.jpg in my movie directories, but only in list view, i'd like to watch it in big icons format..there's any solution ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Files your looking for are VideoDatabaseV5.db3 file and the thumbs folder, original xp install, these were in c:\program files\team-mediaportal\mediaportal
With the new RC1 install these are found here C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Appdata\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

Just copy them over to somewhere safe, so they can be restored back to their original paths, database and thumbs folders.

Just in case anybody else was wondering:

In Windows 7 (x64) it stores them in the hidden folder C:\ProgramData

Not sure about Windows 7 x86.

By Far the easiest way is go to windows START menu\All programs\Team Mediaportal\MediaPortal, there you will file a folder named "user files", everything is there, this covers every OS, so its nice and simple :)

Would put this in the manual, just scratching my head as to were :(

This solution has one side-effect. If you use WorldWether and custom pictures links (Meteosat, temperature, synoptic maps...) then when the database is restored, the system don't refresh them any more.

This solution doesn't work with windows 8 boss! Those who are on win 8, I think you must use this path:

    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Database

It has all the database's including online video, TV series and emulators.
