How to change the DVRDirectory (1 Viewer)

With an ATI TV Wonder 650, according to my Registry, MP stores TV recordings in the "C:\Documents and Settings\%\My Documents\My Recordings\card2\" directory as found under HKLM\SOFTWARE\MediaPortal\DVR\IO\Writer\DVRDirectory.

In the "card2" subdirectory, there exists a (single) subdirectory folder named TempSBE.

While this is the location specified in my Registry, MP actually stores TV recordings in the "C:\Documents and Settings\%\My Documents\My Recordings" directory.

The block size (or cluster size) on my C:\ drive is configured to Windows XP default. On my G:\ drive, a logical partition, the block size is configured to 64K - specifically for large MPEG2 TV recordings and DVD files.

I would prefer MP to store/save recordings on my G:\ drive instead of the C:\ drive.

I tried changing the above Registry KEY to DVRDirectory = "G:\My Recordings\ and a couple of variations including G:\Documents and Settings\%\My Documents\My Recordings" directory with subdirectory TempSBE in the card2 subdirectory. Unfortunately, when I opened MP, it re-wrote the Registry back to the "C:\Documents and Settings\%\My Documents\My Recordings\card2\" directory as found under HKLM\SOFTWARE\MediaPortal\DVR\IO\Writer\DVRDirectory.

Is there any simple way to modify or change MP to save recordings to a location other than "C:\Documents and Settings\%\My Documents\My Recordings\card2\" directory as found under HKLM\SOFTWARE\MediaPortal\DVR\IO\Writer\DVRDirectory?

Thanks,

Martin

The file & dir you are specifying is not the recording directory, but contains the timeshift buffer. You should change the recording file path within the configuration application. There you can change the settings for recording and for timeshifting.

Thank you, once again, for responding to my postings, mbuzina.

    Understood.

    UPDATE 11 SEP 07 . . .

Please make a note that, in fact, the Registry location I referred to is the Recording directory - it is NOT, however, the correct place to make the change. As pointed out below by Furetto, the CORRECT location to modify the Recording Directory is found under Add/Edit Capture cards you'll find the setting for Recording Folder.

Clicking the MediaPortal Configuration icon opens MediaPortal - Setup. From there, open Television / Capture Cards / highlight the card, in my case I had two cards because I have both NTSC and ATSC capability, therefore I highlight "card2" for the ATI TV Wonder 650 (ATSC), click the Edit button and find "Recording folder" with the option to "Specify the folder in which the recordings of this tv card should be saved" and a Browse button. Next, specify or browse to the location that you prefer, here, I selected my G:\ drive, specifically "G:\MP Recordings" and after clicking OK a couple of times, MediaPortal - Setup closes and the Registy location I noted in my first posting, that I specified, changes to G:\MP Recordings.

Did - see UPDATE 11 SEP 07 noted above.

THE REMAINDER OF MY INITIAL REPLY FOR HAS BEEN DELETED.

Thanks again for your support, mbuzina.

Where is this "configuration" application to which you are referring?

If it is found in MediaPortal Configuration, then under MediaPortal - Setup / Television / Recording, I find "Custom Paths and Filenames" tab. Here, it states "A recording is a movie, if the recording is a manual or single type. Use blockquotes [ ] to specify optional fields and \ for relative paths."

    In the Format: window, when I enter [%channel% %date% %start% %end%] \G, under the Sample: window, the software resonds with \ProSieben 12/23/2005 8_15 PM 10_45 PM \G.dvr-ms

As I just moved to TV server, I had to look this up in the wiki manual. Under Add/Edit Capture cards you'll find the setting for Recording Folder.
