Hi

Im in the middle of constucting my first HTPC. Im totaly green in this area end everything is the first time for me.
Im trying to install Mediaportal on my XP x64 system but i cant get it to work.
Ive read that its not officialy suported, but that people have gotten in to work and that i've should search the forums. I've done that for hours now. And it seams that serval ppl are running MP on their XP64 systems, but nowhere can i find out how they did it?
Ive read in a thread that you must install .NET 1.1 and .NET 1.1 SP1 then .NET 2.0 and then MP. Didnt work.
Read in a nother thread something about a svn fix that directed the installfiles to x86? But i dont really understand how to do that or where to find that fix?
Also read something that I need a clean x64 installation for it to work, what does that mean? that i cant have any SP installed?

Basicly, i need a small guide or tips how to make it run.

would be highly apriciated.

(sorry for the typos, not that good at english spelling.. :p )

Question: If you know 64-bit is not (officially) supported, is there a particular reason you are intent on using it? If it's a dedicated HTPC, I would use the best supported platform - that XP-32bit.

That being said, we need more information to help you. While I haven't seen a guide for getting it to work, we could help troubleshoot the errors you are getting. And which version are you trying to install? (older ones SVNs had version checking that prevent install on XP64 but I think that's been removed).

Ive read in a thread that you must install .NET 1.1 and .NET 1.1 SP1 then .NET 2.0 and then MP. Didnt work.

Can you explain "didn't work"? Does that mean the install failed (was there an error message)? Or install worked but crashes on running, or something else? We need details.

This thread:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/installation-configuration-support-53/xp64-40445/
makes it sound like the install can work and MP can run, but hardware support (especially the IR receivers) tend to be pretty poor for 64bit. Especially the eHome receiver.
