How to minimilize Media Portal and set up for thumbnails (1 Viewer)

I'm new to Media Portal and despite going through several guides I'm having issues setting it up the way I want. I currently have moving pictures and StreamedMP installed and am trying to set it up so it defaults to my movie menu in a thumbnail format such as this picture

I have had no luck even getting it to show thumbnails and can't find any options to default to moving pictures either. Any help would be great, I'm getting kind of frustrated.
