I plan on using mediaportal with monochrome, myfilms, and a few other plugins listed in the monochrome thread as being supported by monochrome.

If I want to setup a database for myfilms, what is the best way to organize my folders on the hard drives? Does it matter? Something like: d:\media\movies\HD\folder named for movie\movie file??? How about for my ripped blu-ray and hd dvd movies? They are in folders. Do they have to be converted to isos?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but I wanted to get organized first. Appreciate any help (I've been scouring the forum, but am still confused).

Unless I am missing something in your thread - it is just personal preference. My buddy keeps all movies in their own folder where as I keep AVI's in categorys (Comedy, Action, etc...) Now if you are planning on playing ifo and vob style (not sure if MP supports - never tried) then you probably would have to keep each movie in a seperate folder due to files being named the same. I believe you could also just convert them to ISO so it would be 1 file and could be named anything you desire.

Hope I helped??
