I have been working to make MePo internal video player to output via SPDIF 5.1 surround sound but to no avail I have been getting 2 channel stereo :(

Can anyone please help me set it up to output via SPDIF 5.1/7.1 audio?

Thank you very much.

AW: How to output 5.1/7.1 Audio in MePo 1.2.2

    Hi.
I use the AC3Filter as default audio device with passtrough-settings. With ffdshow exists a similar solution.

    Hi

Just to check that in the Codecs and Renderer part of MediaPortal - Configuration you have the Audio renderer set to "Default DirectSound Device". Also check that the codec that is selected in the MPEG / AC3 audio decoder (in the Video and TV) and DVD audio decoder (in the DVD Discs/Images Codecs tab) is set to pass though the audio to the receiver. The settings for the codec will be external to MediaPortal.

    I hope this helps

I would recommend you to install SAF and use LAVF or FFDSHOW as audio decoder. This can passthru even HD sound directly to your capable receiver. During the install you get questions on the setup, afterwards do mediaportal config and choose the appropriate settings as per SAF instructions.

    SAF 5.0 Stable:

SAF 6.0 (this one I use, stable as a rock):

    Try the 6 version first??

    Good luck.

    alright, thank you very much.

So saf 6 will work in MePo 1.2.2 running on Windows 7 Pro?

Will it affect with the already installed codecs? Or is it just-install-and-everything-works-well type? :D

Yes it installs as any other codec pack but is much less bloated. In general we do not reccomend the codec packs out there. Often they break more than they fix. ;)Personally I run SAF alone for all my needs, and yes on win7 64bit. Works stable as a rock.
