how to play disc with (multiple) avi / mkv (1 Viewer)

hi

I asked this question also in the general support forum but i think is hould have asked it here

i have a lot of dvd's with avi and mkv files.
when i try to play them in mediaportal, i get the play disc question after inserting but choosng yes does not do anything.

also when using the play dvd function nothing happens.

is this not possible within mediaportal ?
