Very easy, but a bit of work....

    1) In the MediaPortal Setup - Tool, open the 'Television' section.
    2) Now go to the 'TV-Channels' section, and create/edit one of your channels.
    3) Go to the 'External' tab, and change the 'Type' to 'Recieve by external settop box'
    4) Next select the 'Input via', and change it to 'CVBS#1'...
    5) Now if you are going to change channels on an external device using a IR-blaster device, input the channel number into the 'Channel no on settop box'

If you have multiple tv-channels, you will have to follow the same steps for every channel.

This is the first time I have seen someone without this tab, you must be special :D

You did not by any chance install the TV-Server plug-in did you? I don’t know if that could cause this, but like I said this is the first time I have ever seen anyone say that the "External" tab is missing.

Try reinstalling, but I'm just guessing

the truth is i don't know exactly what i choose... i have left the default options on almost every thing....

    what i have is

    1 pc dedicated to mediaportal
this pc has no other clients... just the TV connected via S-video from the geforce. and the set-top box connected it the hauppauge via composite...

what options should i choose at the installer?

You did not by any chance install the TV-Server plug-in did you?
not that i am aware... but i have 3 mediaportal icons on the desktop.

i am not at home at the moment... ill check later exactly.... but i remember
the mediaportal icon. that starts the blue GUI fullscreen.
and 2 other mediaportal icons... one is the client options...

and one is the server options... it also opens the database user and pw window and than server options...

    should i have 3 icons?

    thanks

    Hi All,

I am trying to see my composite source in Mediaportal and just can't get it to work.

I have a Hauppauge Win TV-HVR. I go to TV server configuration and iot shows I have a analogue and a digital card (it is a combination card) so I go to analogue and click the "Add VHS/SVHS channels" button. I now have CVBS#1, CVBS#2, CVBS#3, SHVH#1.....RGB#1....etc in my channels list. However, I can't view them. The composite source is viewable and confirmed working in WinTV. If I go to "Manual control", select CVBS#1 and "start timeshifting" I get "unknown error occured". If I start Mediaportal and go to the CVBS#1 channel I get "Unable to start timeshifting - unknown error".

Any suggestions? I have also tried setting up a channel by clicking "add channel" and then going to the analogue tab and setting: channel:0 frequency: 0 input type:cable, source:CVBS#1. It didn't work either!

Sorry - forgot to mention, I am using a Hauppauge HVR-1100 and Mediaportal 1 RC1 on WinXP Professional.
