I have a Kworld capture card with TV tuner. It came with Power VCR II but I hate that software for watching tv on my PC.

It would work when I put the channel on 3 and changed the channels on the set top box from the cable Co.

I downloaded mediaportal and have no Idea how to set it up to watch tv. Would like to have the option of having the screen in a small box or full screen.

Is there a checklist to go through on how to set up the software?

Any help would be appreciated.

RIght now I have:

Media Portal,
Media Portal Configuration, and
TV server configuration.

Thanks again for the aassistance,

Joe

Thank you so much. My guide still isn't working and I am wondering if its because my channels were not named when they scanned in. The channel names are just 1, 2, 3, etc. Where might i find the exact channel names that the tv-server would match with?

sql logon

Wolen thanks for your reply. The solution was not as easy as you might think. I posted this yesteday for another person who was having a problem like mine. I typed the pwd in correctly. I never changed the pwd during the install. I guess the install doesn't install the same on every pc. a bug someone may need to look at. anyway give the following a read.

Oh. my channel guide currently has no stats or info for channels. do you know a quick fix.
I'd also like to be able to use a media extender to view hd content, QAM "Digital Cable", "ATSC" content, and Blu Ray content. Are their any suggestions on such a product?

Please read on.

fixed sql tv server logon issue

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

after searching and searching for a day or so, I finally downloaded SQL Server Mangement Studio Express from Microsoft

Download details: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express

This allowed me to easily figure out how to reset the password for user 'sa'
Open SQL Server Mangement Studio Express
Open 'your computer name\SQLEXPRESS
Open Security folder
Open Login folder
Open user 'sa'
retype password MediaPortal hit enter
Go back to TV Server Config and open
TYPE password MediaPortal hit enter
at this point I new I did right cause it said it wanted to login, but user 'sa' was disabled
so now go back to the screen where you opened user 'sa'
in the upper left hand corner there is a prompt to 'Select page'
Click the page 'Status'
once opened, you will see Login enabled or disabled. Select enabled
click ok
Login to TV Server Config.

I'm in----

Next Problem I found was my Hybrid tuner Card was not loading as a Hybrid, but only as analog
I found out why.
I use Comcast Cable to recieve a digital signal.
When TV Server scan for channels it only picked up Analog channels. At first I thought something was wrong. then I learned through Wikipedia and the folks at AVerMedia that cable companies use QAM to send out a signal. QAM is capable of sending out both Analog and Digital signals. My tuner card is good for Analog and ATSC, but not QAM compatible. So it picks up analog signals. ATSC and Digital Cable 'QAM' are not the same. So in order for me to get the digital cable I need to get a new card. My current card is a pci express mini card specially tailored for an HP-all-in-one desk top. I have no open slots, so I either have to go USB or find a card to replace the existing one. Haven't found a card yet. Anyway that's my story, hope it helps someone out there.
