How to : Start MP with Hauppauge 45 buttons remote (1 Viewer)

- Open with notepad (or what you want) IrRemote.ini in C:/Windows
- Find the line : [Default]
- Under [Default] there are differents buttons (1=, 2=, TV=,...)
- Choose wich button you want to use to start mp
- Or add the name of the button if it isn't there (Green power Button --> GRNPOWER)
- Add this command line : {run(C:\Progra~1\Teamme~1\Mediap~1\Mediaportal.exe)}
- If you don't use the standard path, the path is in dos command (8 letters max, no space, ...), the exe is normal

Example: the green button start MP :
GRNPOWER={run(C:\Progra~1\Teamme~1\Mediap~1\Mediaportal.exe)}
the videos button to start VLC
VIDEOS={run(C:\Progra~1\Videolan\VLC\vlc.exe)}

After that "restart IR"
To use this tip you have to add "Restart IR.exe" in the "automatic windows start menu" (I don't know the english name)

thanks! I just wanted to add, I had so much trouble getting the 8.3 filename right that I just added my MediaPortal directory to my PATH environment variable.

Hello, I just bought the Hauppauge remote by it self without anything else. It does not have any drivers, just wondering if anyone knows where I can get the software so I can do the above fix?

I want to make my remote start MP with the green button! Thanks..

Small update... I have found the drivers on the website (took 4 hours to figure it out! ha)

Remote control applet. After you run this applet, an icon will appear in your Windows device tray showing that the Hauppauge remote control is active..

Now, I have those drivers... and have added the above line GRNPOWER, etc ... Is there anything else I need to do?
