Hello everyone,
I looked at many threads, but I hardly found all of my answers for my questions.
I would like to set up my first HTPC for the following purpose and use:
o (HD)Tv watching is the main purpose (99%)
o my cable company offer around 80 SD + 5 HD channel
o I need an internal DVB-C double/twin tuner: DD Cine V6 or 2x Terra C HD PCI?
o TV recording is the second main purpose (2 ch same time)
o Few DivX/Xvid/DVD watching (6.. x 3..), but it would be great to be able to watch 720p and 1080p movies too
o Time-shifting on RAM modules ~ 2 hours
o Internet browsing on TV
o HDMI to TV
o Running MP
o Sleep (S3)
o Remote (MP, sleep, wake)
o 42" Philips plasma (1024x768)
No gaming, blu-ray, 3D and very, very few 720 and 1080p content. But it is necessary to be able to watch/record/change channels with great speed and reliability.
I decided not to go for an ION/E350 platform, because they seem to be a bit weak for this.
I choosed the following configuration:
- AMD A6-3500 or 3650 (+27euro)
- Gigabyte A55M-S2HP or ASUS F1A75-M (+23euro)
- Dual channel memory pairs: 2x2 GB 1866MHz or 2x4 GB 1600Mhz (same)
- using the built-in Radeon HD card through HDMI
- 512MB memory for VGA from system memory (4-0,5 or 8-0,5 left for system)
I know it may be not as fast as i3, but much cheaper.
Is there enough performance in it? Or the i3 worth the extra bucks?
Worth to pay 20+ euro for these "updates"?
And the most important: is 1866 RAM any better than 1600? If not significant I definitely choose 8GB.
Anyway how much space required for 2 hours of time-shifting in a SD or HD channel?
Thanks for helping me!
