Yes, a regular tuner could connect to the hd stb via svideo and get all the channels in the hundreds... but if you also have an hdpvr using the same stb then you'll get conflicts... when both tuners want to chanhe the channel at the same time you'll only get one show on both tuners...
the example i used before was designed to reduce stbs since you mentioned you wanted to limit those... the old fashioned cable
is just the wire (coax) going straight into the tuner... no stb... if you want the higher channels, you need the stb
