The components are ordered and waiting for delivery.
Although the items i have choosen are by far oversized for an HTPC i just choose them because prices were not more expensiver then older materials..why buy old if u can get new for same price?

The HTPC will be built on the new Intel Board (DG45FC) uATX link
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400/3.00GHz FSB 1333, this board dont have VGA output, only DVi and HDMI
I have read good reviews and will see how it works with Mediacenter.

the MB was succesfully tested with Buffalo 1Gb chips so i took 2 of them CMTLabs
Buffalo 1 GB DDR2-800 (Bulk, Select, D2U800C-1G/BJ)

Hard disk - Samsung 250 GB SAT2 HD252HJ
Not a big disk but its silent from what i have read and beside that, my files will be stored on a local NAS device

As Case i had let my eye fall on the Chieftec with the iMON VFD module + remote control. which is compatible with windows MCE
Chieftec Hi-Fi HM-03
I could have choosen for the HM-02 model but i had my worries that the Boxed CPU + fan did not fit. then better spend 10 euro more for a higher case.
The i-MON module is from Soundgraph link.

I didnot buy yet a TV card although the MB has 1x PCIe (maybe future)

Once i get the items delivered i make photo's for my first project.
I have read quite a lot before i started to order items, i found it hard to check what the needs are..there so many examples to find here in forum ;-)

To be continued (comments are appreciated)

Sounds nice...

Hi, I was wondering where you ordered the Chieftec HM02, I'm looking to buy the Black version of this case. I would like to know where you got it.

I bought the box at Alternate

*Update*

I have got now all components delivered...must say the motherboard is really small, unbelievable that they can put all on such a small thing..even the boxed CPU is almost bigger then the mobo itself...once at home i shoot some pics then i start to put the things together.

to be continued...

Thanks

I found alternate as well, it's the only one yet to ship these things.
I'm really interested in what kind of connections are in this Chieftec case, what is needed to connect these and make them work? Also does it fit a normal ATX PSU. It says standard PSII, never heard of PSII... Could be me though.

Really looking forward for some pictures.
I'll keep a close watch on this thread.

Greatz,

Found a review

Finally the first review of this case is online.

It seems to be a really, really good case. There are a few things I personally would like to have seen different, for instance the color of the display should be blue instead of green. :( There are a lot of good pictures on this site to give an idea of how this case will look in your HT setup. Hope this link helps others a bit as I've been looking for a review for some time now.

My decision has been made and I'm in the process of ordering this nice peace of craftsmanship. :D

Greatz,
Domini0n

Hi, did you finish your build?
I already read a review about the chieftec case and saw more pictures.

There is one thing I hope you could confirm for me Doos.
Is the display of this case in green or blue?

Thanks,
Domini0n

Doos,
I've created a silent HTPC around the intel DG45FC.
All pieces are silent, aside from the motherboard. There is a squeeky sound (probably from a capacitor)

All,
This mobo works fine, but don't expect it to be silent.
I'm using an HFX micro case. If you plan to put a DVD, CD or Blu-Ray in, make sure it is a slot in AND only use VLP-profile memory (if not, your DVD Blu-Ray or CD won't fit)

The last series of the DG45FC/ID have various problems with that squeeky sound from the capacitors. Intel is aware of that, maybe you should send it back.
