Synopsis::

I have a Hauppauge Nova-T card and a Hauppauge HVR-1300 hybrid card. The digital part of the HVR-1300 and the Nova-T are working but whenever I try to add the analogue part of the card in the MediaPortal setup, by pressing the Add button, I get two error pop-ups 'Unable to create graph for this device!'.
I have disabled the EPG grab before trying to add the card, but this makes no difference. I note from the Configuration.log an Exception saying 'Value does not fall within the expected range', but I don't know exactly what this is referring to. The Hauppauge WinTV works with both the digital and analogue parts of the card and I have tried to use Graphedit to create the same graph as specified in the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file, all of the filters link but I don't really know what I should be doing to ensure that it all works.
I wonder if someone could provide some assistance or ideas of things to try to fix my problem.
Many Thanks.

you shouldn't need to use add to add analogue side - i use the hvr-1300 and have digital, analogue and fm all setup - for the hvr there should be 2 cards listed - remember to choose the 2nd card for analogue and fm input - also update to the latest winxp/mce drivers from hauppauge (last ones i got were 3.4c) - no need to install wintv

when watching tv to switch between analogue and digital go to guide and then choose groups

Hi walkerx,

Thanks for the reply. unfortunately I don't quite understand you. Could you please explain why I don't need to add the analogue side, I only have the digital side configured? Whenever I try to add the analogue side I get the 'Unable to.....' twice so I can't tune/configure the analogue side. Please see the attached JPEG's of my current Capture Cards screen and after I've pressed the Add button and got the 2 'Cannot Create Graph' errors. As you can see there is no tab for Autotune, so I cannot configure any channels.
I currently have the latest Hauppauge 'drivers only' loaded 3.1g. These are dated 22 June 2007 and are later than the full software version which the Hauppage website (http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/support/support_new_xpvista.html) shows as 3.4b dated 5 June 2007. I'm not sure where you got a version 3.4c. I've tried HCWClear.exe and only loaded drivers from the full software version and not loaded the WinTV application and it makes no difference, I still get the 'Unable to...' errors.

I'm also unsure about what you mean by your last sentence do you mean the TV Guide screen? If so I cannot see a Group button, this is only visible if I'm on the TV screen. Perhaps you might be talking about the TVEngineV3, while I'm still using the classic MediaPortal. I'm currently thinking that I will have to go through the time and pain of a complete Windows reload, perhaps I should get some disc image software as recommened by the Wiki 'HowTo Install WindowsXP and MediaPortal without the headache'.
Again thanks for the reply.

last ones i got were 3.4c

    Me thinks he means 3.3c

Obviously they (hauppauge) have changed something relating to the name of the card (ID moniker\name) that is why your card is not being properly recognised.

You can edit the capture card definitions xml yourself (use xml marker free) using the name from device manager.

Always wise to install full package from manufacturer even if you do not use, if only for testing purposes.

i may an error on the version number

my card is listed as digital and analogue - didn't need to do anything

the drivers you download are either

cd-mce-3-1g.exe (drivers only for xp/vista mce)

    wintvcd34b.exe (everything)

follow hauppauge install guide on their website

which version of hvr-1300 are you using retail or mce - i'm using the retail version - both cards are same except mce version has phono left/right on

if you press information while watching tv, you can see info regarding what you watching, if press again get options, on here is option for tv groups - i use this to select to switch to analogue so can watch sky

you also get groups option in the setup section - i don't use tvengine3, i'm just running xp sp2 with install of media portal using blue two metal skin and not having any problems with it

There seems to be a problem with the Hauppauge driver installation application with my PC setup with two cards.
After some more investigation and searching on the web, I found a post on the Hauppauge forum which then led me to the GB-PVR forum (http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread.php?t=20998&page=3) where someone with three HVR-1300 cards had problems and was indicating that it was a PCI slot and MAC address issue which was resolved by editing MAC addresses in the registry .
Now I didn't actually try the edit, since I couldn't match what I saw in the registry with either of my card's MAC address, but that led me to decide to open my computer and remove the Nova-T card and see if I could get the HVR-1300 to work by itself. After a HCWclear and driver install with just the HVR-1300, it worked, I could get analogue and DVB-T. So I then put back the Nova-T card did another HCWclear and re-install of drivers and it was back to the 'Unable to ....' on the analogue. It didn't matter the order of the cards in the PCI slots.
So it definitely seemed like a conflict with the two cards, but others have this combination working, so it must be peculiar to my setup.
I then went to Windows Device Manager and software uninstalled the Nova-T, shown as Hauppauge WinTV 88x (DVB-T+IR), then scanned for hardware changes, the PC found the Nova-T and automatically installed the drivers and I had my two cards working on DVB-T and also the HVR-1300 card with analogue.
    Happy days!!!
So thank you for your replies, they have led me to learn some more about GraphEdit and maybe I'll even try some other skins since they obviously have some different menu options. Oh, to answer the question about exactly which card I have, my HVR-1300 is the MCE version model number 96559 rev C5A0 and the Nova-T is model 90002 rev C176 .

    Hi all,
I bought another hauppauge hvr-1300, so now my htpc has two hauppauge card. Digital parts of everyone works fine, but in mediaportal setup when I try to add second analog tuner I receive message "unable to create graph".
I also try the trick as explain in the GBPVR forum, but I had no success. What shall I do? Is there a way to create a graph manually? (and how?)

I've done another test: if I run mediaportal configuration for the first time (after a clean xp installation) both of pvr-1300 are working, but after I restart the system no one of analogue parts of pvr-1300 work, and "unable to create graph" appear.. It seems that everytime I restart the pc, the "device id" of the cards change, so mediaportal setup is not able to build the right graph. Any suggestion?
