Running Vista:
I tried installing 1.01 as an upgrade to an existing MP 1.0 installation last night, and it declared that it needed to upgrade/install DX9c. I clicked through that screen and thought about it, a second, and then stopped the install because it was downloading DX9 (for Vista?!) .
When I went back to install it again, the install aborted with this message:
"Failed to install application - DirectX 9c August 2008."
How do I fix this? I can't find any temporary files associated with the MP install.
--------------------------------------
Never mind - I found it in c:\users\me\appdata\local\temp\mediaportal installation\deploy
I still have to ask *why* I have to download dx9 - I'm running Vista which uses DX10. Downloading DX9 is a waste of time and bandwidth in that case.
Oh yeah - if the user aborts the install process, the media portal installation folder should be removed from the system. Because it isn't, the installer aborts when you try to reinstall.
