I need help setting up my tv-card with this software (1 Viewer)

I just installed this recently and have no idea what I'm supposed to do to allow my tv-card to work with it, I am usually very good with computers and software but this is confusing me, everytime I run the tv part of it it keeps asking me for a server thingy and I trying to work out why I need to set up a server in order to watch tv from my tv-card, I have no knowledge of servers or how to use sqr or what not, nothing in settings is helping much either and nor is the faqs or the online guides, i have a hauppauge nova-t-500 on xp and just want to be able to watch tv on it and I'm totally lost, if anyone can help me know what to do I'd be grateful, thanks.

Hi Asqwolf, welcome to the forum

Take a deep breath - we're all new sometime.

Now, MP has two TV engines - the built in (TVE2) and TVServer (earlier ref. to as TVE3). Since you are using DVB, you should use TVServer. This does not mean that you have to have a dedicated server - singleseat (one computer) is fine

When MP and TVServer is installed, you must type a login and password for the SQL. If you use MS SQL, then:
- Login: sa
- Password: MediaPortal

Then:
- Add card (if BDA drivers are installed - everything happens automagically)
- Scan for channels and enjoy

Thank you very much, I think everything well be alright now, although there is an error message which I not sure what I'm supposed to do, it pops up whenever I load up the tv server configuation software it says the following:
'Microsoft SI/PSI parser Outdated! - Your version 6.5.2600.5512 of psidecd.dll has too many bugs! please check our wiki's requirements page' which when I go to doesn't have anything that'll help me sort the problem, just shows me what requirements are for the software.

Hi Pete

Maybe a bit more info needed to help, what tv card and windows operating system are you using, can you tune channels with tvserver etc, after that we need logs, see my signature how to get and post them.
