Hi Guys,

Ive just updated to 1.2.1 and am very pleased with how my Media centre is running. No problems at all. I want to slightly reorganise some of my films. I currently have quite a few films that are for my 2 daughters which they find it difficult to find being only 5 and 4 years old. I want to try and simplify this for then and was wondering if anyone had already done something similar before.

I was thinking of possibly within the "Genres" section maybe have one with her name, then update each of the films somehow so that they are included. Is this possible? if so how would i go about it?

Or maybe a shortcut from the MPstreamed front page straight into her selection of films.

If anyone has any ideas or has done something along these lines please could you let me know the easiest way to set this up.

Thanks in advance
Cameron.

    Hi Cameron,

I have the same issue with my daughter (4 years old).

The way I handle it is too leave the genres alone since they're dynamically populated and you don't want to manually change genre metadata on each client.

The way I did it was as follows:

Within Moving Pictures on the GUI settings select Define Movie Categories.

Then add a new empty menu item to the top level and call it something like Kids Films.

Then Add a filter to this menu item. If you choose to add a filter that looks for the 'path' containing '\kids films\' then you can simply drop all the appropriate films in a folder called 'kids films' wherever you store your movies and they will automatically be added to this collection.

If you set this category up on all clients, then any film you drop in will be automatically added to all of them.

The Kids Films category will be displayed in Moving Pictures as one of the top level options just below Genre.

The other nice thing about this is that I can also use the parental control filter to only allow these films to be visible.

This prevent any unsuitable fanart from being displayed without a password.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your reply this has helped me out loads. you and M3rcury both gave me the same answer and has worked a treat. Saved me a lot of messing around trying to get it to work. And such a simply solution. Very easy now to add any extra films.

    :D
