Idea for new plugin: World Webcams (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

I just had a thought that it would be great if you could design a plugin where you can add your favourite webcam links from around the world. You may have seen in Google Earth that you can add webcams and click on any of them from around the world. What do you think about adding a list of these cams? Also allow users to add their own and have favourites etc? Make a default list searchable? Is there a list that exists? I guess thety must have used one for google earth, with its location and a web link to the image?

Have you guys tried this using my radio and shoutcast?

Haven't tried anything at the moment. I was hoping someone might write a small plugin to handle this seperately, then users could contribute to a "playlist" of worldwide webcams. How would you do it using radio/shoutcast? - Just create a playlist, like someone has done for InternetTV stations in myradio?

I've added a "playlist" to the my radio which contains a weblink to a webcam feed. However, I'm having the problem that it cycles to the next webcam in the playlist after 10 seconds. Anyone know how to stop it moving to the next clip? Maybe its because my links in the playlist are to a .jpg file? I have the length in the playlisty specified as 200 seconds, but they still cycle through after 10 seconds.

Hi,

Here is my latest playlist. They probably aren't the best exampls of webcams, but I'm just trying to get the thing to work first. I have another problem in that although all the links work in internet explorer (or did at time of testing), some didn't work in media portal. Went to try again in explorer but all was ok. It displays the working ones for 10 seconds, but gets stuck at one that doesn't work and I don't know how to get it to skip to the next one automatically. Please note that I have since altered the times to 10seconds even though this makes no difference in media portal. I had some at 200 seconds but it still cycles to the next one after 10 seconds.....

I totally agree. This would be an awesome plugin. I have been using the Weather > Images area to keep me up to date with web cam views various cities around the globe, purely for novelty value... but i have found that there is a limit to the amount of cities you can add, about ~ 10... which means there is a limit to the number of webcams i can view, about ~ 100... which doesn't sound so bad, but it would be great to have lots more. ... and not just only show static jpgs.

A actual webcam plugin would be great!
