Bahnzai, Regarding your question: "Out of curiosity, why would you want to change the password? After the initial setup, I've never had to worry about the SQL password." ANSWER: I don't. The only reason I thought it might help is due to the wording of the error messages I already quoted. Obviously, something else is going on here. Thanks, --m7491 I suppose it would be wise to ensure that the installation is being done as an administrator. This raises a very obtuse and irritating feature of Vista. A created user account that is assigned ADMIN level priviledges is STILL not exactly the same permission level that is afforded by selecting "Run as Administrator" from the right-click menu for an installer file. I was recently told that by a high-level Miscrosoft Support Tech. However, I digress. Vista is not the issue here. I'll uninstall Media Portal and try re-installiong with that method. Thanks Shadowmeph. -- m7491
