Importing ts files (1 Viewer)

I have tried to import ts video files generated externally into MP by simply copying them to the Recordings folder but they do not show up in "Recorded TV". I note that all the proper MP TV recordings have a xml file assocated with them and presumably the lack of this stops MP from showing the imported item. Is there a way to generate an xml file to get over this? Thanks.

You need to create the xml file manually (they are fairly simple and you can just do this in notepad)

    Thanks.

I have tried copying one of the xml files associated with a
proper MP recording, editing that with a text editor and then
renaming it. It still does not cause the imported file to show
    up.

There is something I do not understand about these xml files. If
I remove an xml file associated with an MP recording the
recording still shows up and plays on the Recorded TV list. Also
if I edit that file, the changes do not show. It seems as though
MP is taking its information from somewhere else. Could this be
the SQL database? Can that be edited?

I finally got the edited xml to work by making sure that channel name was one of my scanned channels. The ts file I had imported was from a DW-TV recording.
