I have the Hauppauge WinTv 500 Nova T dual tuner (pci) and I'm trying to watch Freeview digital in the UK. The background is that digital in the uk broadcasts 16:9 material in anamophic widescreen, thats a 16:9 image "squished" into a 4:3 frame with a flag telling the tv to "unsquish" it. 4:3 content is broadcast as normal. I have read reports on here that you must use dscaler for the aspect ratio to automatically adjust (i have a 16:9 tv) as the default video decoder cannot read the aspect flags. This *did* work...but now it doesnt. What happens is that for 16:9 content it seems to do something what *looks like* its been slightly zoomed, then then both sides cut off. It looks like a 14:9 resolution but slightly zoomed (it may not be im not sure, but its definitely chopped some of the sides off..which is a bit strange). Does anyone know what the problem could be? I've tried fiddling around with default zoom modes but im not entirely sure what that does. It doesnt seem to help. All I want is for 16:9 content to come out in 16:9 and 4:3 to come out in 4:3! :( Cheers for any help. I dont have access to the box yet so cant post screenshots/info but i'll try my best to do so once i can. Thanks guys.
