i am having trouble getting version 1.4 to install.

once i click on install, click next, it tells me an internet connection is required.
no problem, as i am always connected.
so i click next and the installed tells me i dont have an internet connection. huh?
so i click continue anyways figuring its a snafu, and choose one click install, click next and choose to install the lav files.
one i do that i get and error. it says "unhandled exception has occured in your application" {maybe no internet connection}?

it has a detail box with a buch of stuff i don't get.

here is the stuff:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

---

so thats it and the installer quits.

any ideas on how i can work around this?
thanks!
Harold

    Hello and welcome Harold

    Are you running a firewall?
    Do you have any unusual network configuration - for example two network adaptors, use of a proxy server etc.?
    From the exception stack trace this could also potentially be an issue with .NET...

    hello,

    thanks for the welcome.

    i have windows firewall turned off, and i work behind a router, which is in perfect working order.
    i also do not use a proxy server of any kind.

    so i guess that leaves .net?
    i know nothing about it,other than when i setup my hdhomerun, it wanted the latest edition of .net installed, ver 4 i think.

    Have you got .NET 3.5 installed?
    See our requirements:
    https://www.team-mediaportal.com/mediaportal/requirements

    Especially the "system components" section. Most of those requirements are handled by the installer automatically but you may need .NET 3.5 SP1 for the installer to work correctly.

    Assuming you manage to sort this out, you'll also need to take care of the BDA/DVB hotfix mentioned in the "required updates" section and this patch for MP 1.4 on XP:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...les-is-corrupted-with-1-4-0-pre-in-xp.119713/
