Further testing No success with version 0.1.3 so I tried 0.2_RC1, and again no success. Tried debugging 0.2_RC1 and found the setup seems to want an input to a dll, that appear to only available to Window XP -I am using Win2k. Tried version 0.1.2 - success, this does work ':D' I have two SATA hard drives in my system. So I have split it into two. Using a back plate SATA socket I now swap between the two hard drives. Using the 120Gb for my main system and 160Gb for my experiments with Media Portal. Not particularly convenient, but, now any crash will not destroy my system and data. I used Knoppix (partimage) to clone the 120Gb C-drive and copy it to the 160Gb drive. Partimage is available in a number of other applications, such as "System Recovery CD". I have removed applications, such as photoshop from the experimental drive, because they are not necessary for MP. I have now tried 0.2_RC1 again. But, I noticed that setup.ini includes the following lines: - \InstallUrl=http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=9832 Message=1.1.4322 UseDefaultMessage=1 What do these lines do':?:' Any way, instead of running setup.exe. I ran setup.msi. And, 0.2_RC1 installed. I had to run the wizzards in MP, which set up MP. I am using MP while typing this, watching BBC1. The question is, what does setup.exe do, or doesn’t do, which causes my system install to fail? I cannot think of any application that I have removed which caused the original 0.2_RC1 install to fail. I suggest that others having installation failures should try running "Setup.msi".
