Hi,

I have a WHS box pretty much completed, I was planning to just have is as a WHS box but then thought what the hell, if it will be on 24/7 then I might as well install tvserver to it also.
This would solve the problems I am having with my current setup concerning after standby issues etc.

Can anyone who has installed tvserver on WHS provide me with some quick and dirty instructions on how to get going? I'm not yet in a position to test it but I will be within a few weeks.

Thanks for any help.

I've installed TVServer on WHS. I don't have any specific setup instructions - first time on RC2 I had to use a bit of a workaround, but last time I installed it on the OEM release it was straightforward. Exactly the same process as installing on an XP machine.

Go for it, it's worth it since the WHS machine is on 24/7 anyway.

One suggestion is to perhaps use a dedicated disk for timeshift/recording rather than using the mapped WHS shares - I found the DE interferes with the recordings and causes a bit of weirdness because DE tries to move the recordings when it balances.

I have nothing to backup my theory tho, just a hunch that TVE3 wasn't liking what the WHS DE was doing to the recordings... so I played it safe and am recording to a drive that hasn't been added to the WHS Storage Pool.

Thanks for replying, I was thinking about throwing in a 160 gig 2.5" disk especially for SQL and mediaportals recording and timeshift files.
You just confirmed what I was thinking all along :)
