Installation problem with tv-server and MediaPortal client (1 Viewer)

Hi

First, i'd like to say I'm a total beginner on this field.

I have installed the TV-server latest rc2 on a windows xp and sqlexpress. I have a asus hybrid usb tvcard, which the tv server found fine. I have scanned for channels which also seemed to go fine. On this computer I have disabled the windows firewall all together. I have veryfied that the TV-server service is running.

Afterwards I installed MediaPortal as a client on another computer also running Win XP and configured it to connect to the IP of the TV server. Here is where the problem starts. The program is a whole minute to start, and when I select "my tv" nothing happens. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this ?

I did not install MediaPortal on the tvserver, since it does have a very good graphics card, but I did install some Media software that came with the usb-tvcard and it worked fine. I could see the channels fine.

u can use the preview button in TV-server. Located under TV channels (I think).

Hi Kohsel,

Yeah, you really do need to isolate first off whether the delay is caused by the TV-server itself - as tompa says, if you preview TV on the server and it all seems to start-up OK, then the problem is likely with the communication between client and server. But if TV doesn't even seem to stream properly on the server itself, then that's the place to start. Otherwise, you're kind of just stabbing in the dark to try and find a solution!

I have now tried out the preview function and it came with the following errormessage: TV-server: Preview failed: NoVideoAudioDetection. Can anyone tell me what that means?

I guess it was. It found the names of the channels I'm supposed to have, but I cant be sure since the preview is displaying the NoAudioVideoDetected error

Probably u have some trouble with your TV-card/drivers?
I'm not using an hybrid card, so no experience there ...sorry!
