Am a long time MP1 user, and have successfully been running the x64 version since it first appeared.

Recently, problem of black screen when going to TV.....only recoverable by using task manager to escape MP1

Thought a reinstall might help.....it has not!

I'm running latest Win11, and am always updated to current version

I've tried full un-install......from control panel.....but still cannot progress with a fresh install.

Any pointers please???

Do you have the "Turn on TV when entering the TV screen" option checked in Configuration?
If yes try unchecking it to see if it changes anything.

Well then you need to tell people here what exactly is failing during the install or provide an installer log.

Close all your applications; open Windows File Explorer and type %TEMP% in the navigation bar; delete all the files you find there but do not close File Explorer.
Start MP installation. After it has failed, go back to File Explorer and check in the Temp folder if maybe some .log or .txt files have been left behind by the installer.

I have yet to update to MP 1.38.3 from 1.38.1, I'll try to see if it saves a log somewhere but I don't have time today.
Can you describe what happens when it fails? Is there a message of some sort?

    YES....I get a Manual Download window......asking me to D/L a WMP11 file.......also gives a destination folder.
    I'll try to screenshot it.....

There should be a link in that error message to a place where you can download the file.
Download it then put in in the folder that the MP installer wants and rename the .exe to the exact name the MP installer wants.
