installation problems (1 Viewer)

Trying to install MediaPortal but getting an error message when it get to MS SQL Express 2005. It says "Unhandled Exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately" "%1 is not a valid Win32 application."

I got gbpvr working

I could not get the MS database to login. It will install but I dont know the password.

The MySQL can login, but the database cannot be created.
I really hate MS software.

I got watchHDTV working

It is actually working extremely well, better than gbpvr. I dont get any picture break ups.
gbpvr may have a problem with me the picture breaks into blocks, stops and jerks.
With watchHDTV the picture is totally smooth.

This here tells you the frequencies you need to setup the channels. They dont have all the sub channels on their list for my area.

You first must run WatchHDTVInfo.exe to configure the codecs and card
You can get codecs from freecodecs.com

For me I found dscaler works

Then you create each one of the the config files on the setup config page.

Then you run WatchHDTV.exe
And you setup the tuner numbers and frequencies.

not sure what is going on here. To the Original Poster, if you look in the program data/team mediaportal/logs directory, there may be some information in there that gives more detail. Post any logs here and others may be able to help. I'm not sure why the installation fails from looking at the detail you posted.

To the second poster, I'm not really sure what question you have. it looks like you are just posting details on other programs that you are using.
For the MS database password, it's MediaPortal by default. During the install process it tells you this and also tells you to write it down as you will need it later.
