Hi ronilse thankyou for your help. I did as you suggested and removed media portal. Deleted the Team Media folder and reinstalled to a new folder. I am up to date with all win updates with the exception of Gen advantage. Unfortunately when I tried running setup I got the same error message as before. The message pops up almost straight away. It doesn't even try to open up any windows. Hi Taipan thankyou for your suggestions. I did notice the corrupt channel name when it was originally scanned but I thought it was just a string for the channel name. Bearing in mind that I have a really useless antenna at the moment I figured that the channel name had just been 'misheard' by the card as a result of a poor signal. Before trying ronilse's suggestion i tried renaming TVDatabaseV21.db3 to TVDatabaseV21_old.db3 and running the setup. Unfortunately it fell over straight away. I have updated my system spec now and there are only a couple of unknowns but I am not sure how to repost the spec without starting a new thread. It's just very strange how solid the installation was originally but now it falls over straight away. cheers and thanks to you both for your suggestions Happyjack
