I'd like to install the latest stable MP, but I have already installed all the latest patches plus the SVN from 14 October.
Will it update the whole installation or not ?
I have to backup something before ?

thanks !

Nik

Do a safe-backup of your MediaPortal folder.

Uninstall MP, no settings will be deleted. Install MP 0.2.1.0 then. If your installation starts to behave weird, start with a clean installation. If not, you can keep your data.

A safe backup would be to make a copy of the MediaPortal folder straight forward, or are there any special things that must be backed op separately?

I'm asking because my setup is precious, and losing it means hours and hours of new setup.

I tend to backup all the xml files from the main folder and the whole DATABASE and THUMBS folders.

Unistall MP, delete the MP folder.

Fresh instal of MP and then copy the above saved files and folders to the new instal.

If you are doing this because of MP runnning problems then you can check through the logs to see if the problem is a withn the database and then delete just the faulty database file, unfortunatly you will loose some info but there is realy no easy way to repair this.
