Using Windows XP/32-bit with ServicePack 3:
This is my very first install of MediaPortal, and I'm at the point in the installer that lists the things that are going to be
installed. The list contains five items:
Very old MP/TV-Engine Installation, State=removed, Action=no action
DirectX 9c, State=installed, Action=no action
MS Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redist, State=not installed, Action=download/install
Windows Media Player 11, State=not installed, Action=download/install
MediaPortal 1.0 rc4, State=not installed, Action=download/install
I don't really understand the need to download and install the service pack for VS2005, I mean beyond the facts that a) I have no reason/desire to compile the code, and b) VS2005 is not even installed on this box (however VS2008 Standard Edition is installed, and it and all of the installed .Net runtimes are fully patched up).
There is a green circle with a "+" symbol in it next to the last three things (the ones that aren't installed), and I have yet to discover the super-secret method for deselecting the items I don't want to install - namely, the VS2005 service pack.
What should I do?
