Interlacing, a question. (1 Viewer)

I capture analog PAL TV at 720x576 and play it back via TVOUT. Both input and output are interlaced, there seems to be no requirement for the computer to process this data. Can I avoid unnessary deinterlacing, resizing, etc.? I ask because the recorded DVR-MS appears to be Progressive.
Maybe I show a lack of understanding.
That said, I am very pleased with the results obtained with MP.

your TV output will interlace the output.
Therefor you always need to send de-interlaced video to the tv-out.

No way to disable the interlacing on a TV-out as far as I know.

Yes, the TV output will generate interlaced video.
But, I believe most or all VGA chipsets support different frame buffers for the odd and even fields.
So, if the video was kept interlaced in the DVR-MS you could be better off.
There will always be a loss of quality when deinterlacing.
