Internal DVD player color looks washed out (1 Viewer)

I have just started to use My Films, which uses the MP Internal DVD player for playing back movies. I normally use WinDVD for real DVDs and they look amazing on my HD tv. I have noticed the internal MP DVD player is not as sharp and the color is washed out (the black is not black) - you can really tell when you watch a movie that has black bars on the sides.

I have tried using each of the codecs I have available in the settings, but none look better. I have also tried to adjust the overlay color settings on my video card but it does not affect the internal player.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the internal DVD player to look as good as WinDVD? My WinDVD is just on default settings.

Thanks!

WinDVD uses the video overlay..... MP uses VMR9 instead, hence why the video overlay settings have no effect on MP.

There is supposed to be a way of changing the VMR settings... but I've still to find it. Desktop settings affect VMR9/MP but obviously adjusting those isnt practical for normal computer use.

I'm in the same boat as you and looking for the fix, washed out and poor contrast within MP.
