All,

I'm looking to completely replace a number of components with my HTPC - one of which is my Roku Soundbrudge.

One of the neat features of the Soundbridge when playing an Internet Radio Stream is the fact that it displays the song title, artist, album etc information as it is streaming the audio.

I can't find out how to do the same with MP - any ideas?

Thanks.

First think would be to help the developer(s) how are working in this area. Please provide the URL to the station(s) which provide that information. Not all internet stations provide that info!!

Provide info then wait, it maybe they are working on other enhancements or problems (bugs) so it could be that this request may not be seen for months down the road. There have been developers who have dropped out and other developers have picked up and are working to figure out the code.

Here is my favorite - Radio Paradise:

Anyone know how this is done? I think it sends text by RSS?

Hear hear! My HTPC is probably used 80% for listening to web radio, and during that time we're probably listening to Radio Paradise 90%! Another favourite of mine is Indie Pop Rocks!, which has similar content, basically almost every new band I've gotten into in the past two years has been from Radio Paradise.

Unfortunately having a working web radio is a HUGE requirement for me, and since MCE can only handle WMA streams (whoever broadcasts those) I'm stuck at the moment. I'd even settle for bringing the Winamp play window or whatever on to the screen, it's not super clean but should be trivial to implement if you could replace the player for streams (I think MP can only use WMP for radio though).

Hi Karson, this is not correct. I listen to all intenet radio in MP by using the winamp plugin. If you enable the winamp plugin via setup and then alter the file types played by winamp to include .pls, or whatever your internet radio streams in then that should become the default player. I do this because i like having control over the equaliser and i can control 5.1 speakers, neither of which the WMP can do for me.

If you did not run MP as always on top then the winamp player window will show you stream info like artist etc. I also would prefer it innate to MP but this migt work for you as a get around solution

I hope this may be of use to you

    Cheers

Thanks, adding the .pls file extension to the Winamp plugin does the job for .pls streams, but unfortunately the built-in Shoutcast search tool in Media Portal doesn't pull in the Shoutcast .pls file, and sometimes the source is just a URL with no .pls or other extension so the default player gets launched!

It would be easier if we could just specify an external web radio player for the radio portion of MediaPortal, with per-station overrides if necessary. It would also be nice to add new radio stations and use the Shoutcast lookup tool within MP itself instead of having to shut down and use the setup interface, I can just see my wife accidentally deleting my music library or something if she has to mess around in there! :)

Yes it does! I wish I could use the newest version of Foobar, but Winamp's doing the job for now, I just have to mouse over the task bar to bring up Winamp to see the track title.

Hi, any progress/workaround here ? it seems quite of a limitation for a *GREAT* and easy to use internet radio feature. I use it all the time, actually is the most used MP feature here at home!

I'll throw my request in here as well. This feature is lacking I agree. WinAMP and XBMC also display the song and track title so the DEVs could have a look at that if they wanted some ideas. I have actually made this request before, this thread probably should be moved to the development area.
