IPTV and Mediaportal (1 Viewer)

Having now the right Internet bandhwith for IPTV I would like to start getting integrating this into MediaPortal.
But to me it seems this is only possible using a seperate software or in some cases even HW.

So two questions I would have:
1. Does MediaPortal support IPTV at all?
2. If yes, can anybody point me to streaming services and how to make it work with MP

I installed te proposed Online Videos tool. It is fantastic for videos in the internet.

I am curious on the IPTV solution you said will come with 1.1.

It should.
The way I understand it is Online Videos is giving on demand access to videos, while IPTV is helping you getting real time TV streams

Lets try to clear things up a bit :

Internet TV: Streams like YouTube etc. Often open for everyone and "on demand"

IPTV: A DVB-type. This is a service one subscribes to, like you do with DVB-S (satellite), DVB-C (cable), DVB-T (terrestrial). As IPTV is "two way", there is also a often interactive "stuff" and VOD. My IPTV provider (Lyse/Altibox) provides streams via UDP. Unfortunately most are necrypted, and no smart card is used. The STB is in reality a little Linux box. (And I really hate it).

MediaPortal supports IPTV (before 1.1A, you need a patch), and it even has it own UDP-filter, created by Mikeyko (which has been praised even by IPTV providers)

I am interested in building a semi-professional head-end, using PBI equipment (for example index).

I take it that if my headend is successfully encoding the signals I am plugging into it, and broadcasting via unicast, then the TV client should be able to decode it?

is there an option for streaming internet tv channels? i recall trying SageTV years ago and it accessed discovery and history type streaming channels.
