IR Server Suite - general setup (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a general question about the setup to let the MCE Remote as another Remote..
I understand (and did) the standard approach to (re-)teach Power TV and Volume buttons on MCE Remote control:
the Remote (sender) adapts the foreign IR code. Ok, It works. - but only for one device..

Now I want to use some Markos, therefore I installed the IR Server Suite. I deleted registry stuff, setup the MCE MP Plug In - It works fine.

I let it learn the "Power off IR command" of me TV as a new IR command- > Learned IR successfully.
I mapped this new IR command to the Power TV Button in the Remote Control config.
But nothing happens, it doesn't work.

That brings me to the question, how can it work if you teach only the remote receiver, if so there must be a redirect approach: send the origin commend to the receiver - send the changed command back to the remote - and ....
Hmm that can't be the approach...but where do I map the MCE Remote to this new command, to send it ???

What did I wrong / forgot?

It sounds like you need to reset your remote so it sends the original codes again ... otherwise the ir server suite doesn't see the code it expects for the power tv button.

There are details in the mce remote manual on how to reset the buttons...

To restore the default remote control settings

1 Press and hold the DVD MENU button and LEFT navigation button at the same time
until the remote control for Media Center PC lights turn off.

2 Press the OK button.

The remote control for Media Center PC lights blink twice to confirm that the buttons
have been reset. The TV button will have no command assigned to it and the VOL +
and VOL – buttons will adjust the Media Center PC system volume.

If the default settings were not restored, the lights blink quickly four times. To try
again, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Hi Aaron,

thanks for the quick replay.
I did reset my MCE. The standard behavior of the TV Power - is exit MP and it works.
I can map the new command. But nothing happens....

Hmm, maybe there is a misunderstanding:

what is the right approach to let the MCE Remote send the new learned IR command to control the foreign device via MCE- just map the command to the Button in the config ??? That doesn't work here.

Ok, I got it !
It only works, if you use the additional MCE IR sender...and place / stick them in front of the forgein decive, in my case - on the TV...as the MCE transreciever is placed below the TV there is no other change to send the command -this make sense.

Hmm, but that is what i was afraid of...is there no chance to reset the commands straight on the MCE remote (sender)- I don't want to paste up my whole equipment with this senders?
