IR sever hardware setup (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I guess I am missing some documentation somewhere. I don't understand how the MCE remote hardware is physically supposed to be setup on the tv server. Do I setup the usb ir blaster on the stb with the ir led on the stb ir sensor while the usb is plugged into the tv server? What about the actual remote? I assume I can use it on a mediaportal client so do I need to get another hid? I have the tv server in the basement and the tv's are upstairs connected to the network. I really am not getting the logic even after reading the tutorial suggested by others. Any help would be appreciated.

In this case, you'd need two MCE sets.

Basement:
TV Server
MCE REceiver
IR blaster (plugged into MCE receiver)
Settop Box (with IR blaster placed on the box's reciever)

Upstairs:
HTPC
MCE Receiver
MCE Remote


The upstairs HTPC should be able to use the remote with MP out of the box. No need for the IR Server Suite.

The basement TV Server would have the IR Server Suite installed, and the plugin enabled and configured in th TV Server setup.


I hope this helps clarify the setup.
