Hi, just unpacked the irTrans hooked it up got it working in minutes. After reading the WIKI to remove the section from apps.cfg to avoid double command execution I can control MP over the LAN with my MCE Remote.

Juts one question: I used MPTray before which allowed MP to start/exit by pressing the Application buttion (big green button) on my MCE Remote. Now when MP is not running and working over irTrans pressing the green button on the remote does not start MP. When MP is running it maximizes/restores previous window to/from full screen.

I've tried this with MPtray not running but the behaviour is still the same.

Questions:
1. should MPtray still be running?
2. is any change needed for the app button to work like it did over the regular MCE Remote IR device?

Otherwise nothing but kudoos to the maker of irTrans as well as the plugin/internal code in MP to support it!

Thanks in advance
Ronald

I have the same setup and experience the same issue as you do - can not use mptray to start MP. Unless the new IRTrans plugin is part of mptray, I don't think you can expect it to (without the plugin running, nothing is there to service or interpret the command input from the IRTrans server). I think the question becomes "is there a new mptray around that embeds the IRTrans plugin?"

irTrans is running shouldn't it be able to start MP?

Just like MPtray intercepts the IR command and starts MP, irTrans which is running while MP is not, should be able to do the same thing.

Question is how?

mptray is not IRTrans compatible, that code is not in there. When mptray was coded by Smirnuff, IRTrans was not implemented. That came very much later in MP. Also, mptray code and MP code do not share anything, they are 2 seperate applications and though do not use the same code.

    ok guys,

look at the mediaportal download section. Very shorty you should see a download for Mptray4Irtrans.
Start it and it'll sit in the tray and startup Mediaportal when hitting the Green Button.

    regards,

    Helmut

    mptray4irtrans -- no such luck

    Just DL'ed and installed MPTRAY4IRTrans

Both MPTray4IRTrans as well as the IRTrans server are running. The green button when pressed showes on IRTrans that the mediacenter ehome button is pressed but MP does not start

    What am I doing wrong?

duh ... RTFM comes to mind! And bug?

placed mptray4irtrans in mediaportal's root directory solved the starting issue.

But after starting MP the 1st time and exiting it won't start MP again; I can reproduce this at will. Solution is to exit mptray4irtrans, restart it and it's ok and ready to start MP (as well as getting the properties of either startmenu or some other desktop item which happens to have focus)

if I only knew what I am doing wrong now?

    Hmm, interesting.
    Working with me.
Can you post me the log?
it is mptray4irtrans.log in the mp dir.

aso right click on the icon in the Systray and see, if the "Reconnect ..." button is enabled.

    mptray4irtrans log results

the log entries are (noticing that it deletes the log after a restart):
    20/06/2006 20:04:51 Connection established

no further entries when pressing any button (ie app button). The reconnect to IRTrans context remains grayed out; only the exit context menu is available

    Regards
